For 17 years we have prayed for, supported and served the people of Ukraine. We could never have imagined that our decision to “adopt” this land would find us where we are now.
What we are watching is heartbreaking, mind-boggling, and, above all, evil. This isn’t an effort for peace; it’s an attempt at extortion. It’s not right—none of it is right—these poor souls.
On Monday, a few of our simplechurch leaders are meeting to discuss tangible ways we can support our Ukrainian friends. Pray for us, as we do. We'll keep you posted on what develops. In the meantime, keep praying. Keep asking that those who do evil would be thwarted in their plans.
Just this morning, I studied Revelation 6-7. The vision paints a clear-eyed picture of evil and suffering in the world. But the vision is bookended by two scenes: at the beginning of the vision is Jesus, on a white horse, and at the end of the vision are the saints praying.
Jesus stands ahead of all evil, and the saints bring up the rear guard with their prayers. Evil will meet its judge in Jesus, and the saints will pray it so.
Church! Stand up and pray. On your knees and pray. As we serve with practical needs and love with courage, we must have faith to believe that our greatest vocation and weapon is prayer.
Let’s go!
