One of the new initiatives our leadership has decided to take for the year ahead is to determine a “Theme for the Year.”  The idea is to choose a theme that our churches can rally around—something we can spend the year learning about, praying for, or raising funds for—regardless of where we are located.

Maybe an example will help.

Let’s say we have decided that the year’s theme will be “International students.”  Then, we could host a few online learning events where we invite experts in the field to instruct us.  We could host prayer evenings or create prayer guides that lead us in our churches from week to week. We could also find organizations in our cities that work with international students, find ways to support them, and welcome them into our church communities while they are studying here.

Make sense?

So here’s where we need your help: We need your ideas. What should our theme be? It could be a human-interest theme (like the one we listed above) or a theological theme (Something we spend the year learning about in more detail). It could be anything that our churches could rally around—to learn about and engage with from a Jesus lens.

Fill in the form

Over the next couple of weeks, add your themes and any context or ideas that might accompany the theme. We’ll pray about them and choose one that seems to sit right. And, if your theme isn’t selected, don’t sweat it. We can only choose one!
