Another song for us as we lean into worship in this 2017 year. This time a suggestion from our Vancouver church.
In this week's CityWide we look at Revelation 4. In the passage we are given our first glimpse into heaven and what we see there is worship. Unending worship. The creatures, the angels, the people - everyone is worshipping.
Day and night they never stop saying:
“‘Holy, holy, holy
is the Lord God Almighty,’
who was, and is, and is to come.”
When we worship we don't start something. We don't start worshipping. Rather, we join in. We join into something that has been happening for all eternity, and something which never stops happening. Day and night, John observed, that the creatures never stopped worshipping. Look at it like an onramp. The traffic of worshipping keeps flowing. Always. And when we join in... it's like we take the onramp into the flow.
In the song below the writer has tapped into the flow. She's heard the heavenly refrain and she's taken the onramp. Her song reflects what we read in Revelation:
“You are worthy, our Lord and God,
to receive glory and honor and power,
for you created all things,
and by your will they were created
and have their being.”
