An Invitation to Spiritual Direction
Hi friends,
Some of you may know that I have been working toward a certificate in spiritual direction through a Portland-based organization called Soul Formation.
For my upcoming practicum, I am looking for both men and women to meet with for 9 monthly sessions of individual spiritual direction from January - September 2024.
Is this something you - or someone you know - might be interested in?
If you don't know about spiritual direction, I would be happy to talk with you more. In brief, spiritual direction is an age-old practice of soul care & spiritual nurture within the Christian tradition, which offers an individual time and space to pay attention to what God is doing in their life. It can be described as a three-part encounter between God, the directee, and the spiritual director, for the purpose of growing in your relationship with God. A spiritual director is someone who journeys with you, helping you cultivate a deeper personal relationship with God by centering on - and listening to - Father, Son and Holy Spirit (the true spiritual director).
Similar to a habit of physical exercise, spiritual direction is meant as a regular part of life. At the same time, here are some seasons where spiritual direction might be especially encouraging:
- If you are having trouble creating space in your life to attend to your soul and your relationship with God.
- If you find yourself in a season of transition where you are seeking God's direction for your life.
- If you are looking for new avenues and rhythms to connect with God.
- If you are bored, disappointed, confused or angry with God and need a safe place to explore and process your journey with Him.
We would meet by Zoom once a month for 60-75 minutes. While I am finishing my program, I would like to charge a small fee, ranging from $10 to $30 per session, but please let me know if you - or someone you know - are interested and this is a hindrance, as I wouldn’t want cost to be a barrier in any way!
