singingdancing worship with your kids these days?

[ ]

We've been really enjoying some Hillsong Kid's songs on Youtube. My kids like seeing other kids worshipping. I like the words visible to sing with and the tunes are good. The lyrics are good good.

7 more sleeps

Until we gather together on the beach and remember Jesus is ALIVE!

One more week of "Lenting"...I'm encouraging everyone this morning to renew your mind and practices this week. There are usually 3 areas we deliberately engage in during this 40 day period; Prayer, fasting and giving financially to a the poor.
Join in by fasting a day or fasting your sweets. Come to a prayer time on Tuesday. Host your own prayer meeting or worship night. Give a special gift to your favourite charity or the child you sponsor - take on a child with ICC to sponsor for the year!

I'm starting to read....

Shepherding a Child's Heart by Tedd Tripp.
If any parents want to read too and then have a night out to chew it over together - I'd love it!

I sent an email to my church

[ ]

Good morning all!

I was just cleaning out the dishwasher this morning, sorting out the cutlery and thinking of you all.  After the church leaves, which is usually on average 14 - 15 people, Andy and I do a few minutes of moving chairs, throwing toys in bins and starting the dishwasher.  And that is IT!  Did you know what easy guests you are?

True Spirituality is not a diversion from life - - - - - - --

I think I'm about to read a really good book. Already my mind is fully awake [and for me at 8:30pm, this is a feat.] and my spirit was stirring.

Seven Days of Faith by Paul Stevens.

First quotes and thoughts:
Eugene Peterson gives the forward to the book by explaining how we find ourselves relegated to the identity of "layperson" when it comes to being a Christian. As if there was such a thing! Then a statement about "following Jesus or following Jesus-experts" and I'm hooked.

my favorites

[ ]

Hi all!

I'm posting my few favorites when it comes to parenting and children's Jesus-books....

For me:
Sacred Parenting: How Raising Children Shapes our Souls by Gary L. Thomas
Hold On To Your Kids ~ why parents need to matter more than peers by Gordon Neufeld

For us:
Psalms for Young Children by Marie-Helene Delval
Read-Aloud Bible Stories - Ella K. Lindvall - we just have one volume of this book we received as a gift. I know there are more and would like to invest in them, really great for children under 5.

our children's understanding of Jesus: theology 101

[ ]

At the City Wide in March we did some brainstorming with the kids. We wanted to know anything they knew about Jesus. What they said was so incredible! Here are the "minutes" of their meeting...

JESUS...

hears
is big
is strong
is mighty
says wise things
is old
is God’s son
has angel friends
is the boss of the angels
heals people
is wonderful
is invisible
died
is never afraid
is not afraid of evil or bad guys
is someone who loves me
is loving
never stops loving me - just like mom & dad
is alive
is someone to love
is powerful
has friends

What about the world's orphan's? - article link

[ ]

I thought this was a good, thought-provoking article. There is a decreasing amount of international adoptions happening throughout the world for various reasons. This was a short article written by a local adoption agency. It isn't written with a 'faith' angle in mind either, just a simple exhortation to the world. I liked it.
